Sponsor Focus: Fat Quarter Shop

We have wonderful sponsors here at Stumbles & Stitches. They are businesses that we support (on a regular basis, ahem) and that we are proud to recommend. Instead of the monthly sponsor round-ups we used to post, we decided to change things up a bit and do "focus" posts on each sponsor this year. This allows us to dive a bit deeper into what each of these businesses has to offer.

Today, I'd like to share some things you may not know about Fat Quarter Shop!

fat quarter shop

What you probably do know is that Fat Quarter Shop is an amazing online store for all your quilting fabric needs. They offer yardage of every collection imaginable, as well as all the precuts you can think of (fat quarters, fat eights, charm squares, layer cakes, jelly rolls, hexagons and more!). You can purchase patterns, thread, notions. And they even have a Christmas store specializing in holiday fabrics.

In a nutshell: if you want to make a quilt, this is the place to go.

A super clever and fun offering on the Fat Quarter Shop website is the Block of the Month club. You sign up and pay a one-time membership fee, then you receive the materials to make one quilt block per month for a year. At the end of the year, you're ready to assemble a gorgeous quilt. Currently, Fat Quarter Shop has only a few spots left for their 2013 Designer Mystery BOM which features several fabulous Moda fabric designers. If you're interested, make sure you sign up ASAP! You can read all about it here.

Fat Quarter Shop youtube

And here's something I bet you didn't know about Fat Quarter Shop: they have a YouTube channel! And it is awesome! I just spent about an hour clicking around on various videos and learning how to put together a curved quilt block, among other things! There are quilting tutorials, there are interviews with fabric designers, there are behind-the-scenes tidbits of QuiltCon, and more. So fun!

Here are a couple of videos you might like. Please go visit the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube channel for much more!

Hello September Sponsors!

Happy Sunday!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. We are terribly late with our little sponsor round-up this month (blame the back-to-school roller-coaster!). But it's not for lack of LOVING these wonderful businesses -- we hope you will too.

Oh by the way... Stumbles & Stitches is currently booking sponsors for October through December -- you can choose 1 month or a discounted deal for 3 months. Go to our Sponsorship page for all the details. Thank you so much for your interest in supporting us!

Without further ado, here's what's new with our awesome sponsors this month!

Drygoods Design Online

Drygoods Design has a TON of new fabrics in stock (and I would know, because I was just there 2 days ago!). The Liberty Lifestyle is going very fast. Keli also recently received new fabrics from Michael Miller, Kokka, Moda and Free Spirit. And very exciting: Jay McCarrol's new line Center City just arrived!

In October, Drygoods Design will have more fabrics but also some gifts just in time for the holiday season, including Orla Kiely's new line of garden tools, pots and thermoses.

In other news, the storefront will be open six days a week starting October 2nd, with regular Studio Nights for sewists to gather and stitch. This means more opportunities for Seattle locals to go browse gorgeous fabrics and faster fulfillment of online orders!

Thank You July Sponsors!

A warm welcome to our new sponsors for July:

Karen Pior owns Sew Well Maide, a new Etsy shop offering fresh and modern quilt patterns and finished quilts. She lives in Melbourne, Australia (our first international sponsor!).

About her shop, Sew Well Maide, in her own words:

Sew Well Maide was born out of my compulsive need to make quilts. I adore quilts - old, new, traditional, modern and contemporary. I love making them for my Family. I love making them for my Friends and I love making them as gifts. There is something so comforting and soothing about quilts. Perhaps it is the connection with the past, perhaps it is the feeling of being enveloped in the warmth of a hug or maybe just the security that warmth and softness brings us. Whatever it is I wanted to have that in my everyday. And I wanted to be able to help others bring that into their everyday and their homes.

Sew Well Maide provides you with unique, original quilt and accessory designs to enable you to fulfill your creative spirit. The feelings evoked by making your own quilts, watching the stitches bring together something tangible and unique and beautiful and useful are priceless.

I've been so busy with projects that my little lovebug didn't get anything homemade for his birthday, aside from cupcakes which he really enjoyed! (Here's a gratuitous photo of the birthday boy.)
