Finished Birdies!

By-Jenny2

Hello Angel!

I hope you had a great weekend. I wanted to show you and our friends my finished Little Birds Garland! Sorry it took me all day to post, there was fun to be had in the sun, wading pools in which to splash, and friends with whom to visit. What a nice day! I know July is done but we're not quite done sharing our Christmas in July projects, so... without further ado, here are my birds.

I finished the birdies a few days ago but didn't get around to finishing the garland until today. I didn't follow Lisa's pattern quite exactly. According to her instructions, I should have included the string to hang the birds as I completed each one. Instead, I decided to wait until the very end, picked yarn that looked best with my felt (a natural linen/cotton blend) and just poked the string of yarn through each bird with a tapestry needle.

It worked out just fine, though I can slide each bird up and down. If I'd made this as a gift, I would have followed her design more carefully.

I still need to finish (ahem, start) my Felt Flora and Merry Little Ornaments. I'll share them as soon as I have made some progress. Meanwhile, I'm so glad to have these birdies done! We're actually going to enjoy them year-round, I think. I hung them on the door of our living room so we see them when we sit on the couch. Yay!

How are you doing on your ornaments? Can't wait to see!!

If you've made some ornaments along our Christmas in July series, please post them in our Flickr pool. We wanna see!

  1. They are so cute! When you were a baby, my first Christmas tree ornaments were a homemade bunch of stuffed kittens in off-white felt and red thread, same kind of look... I did not think about taking pictures, though... Oh well, those were different times, I am not even sure the camera had been invented yet...

  3. I haven't made them yet, but I've admired these birds for a long time. Maybe this year.

I love all the photos of BC on your blog, that area is gorgeous! I'm so close here in Seattle and we enjoy similar views of the water, trees, etc. So beautiful!
