Vacation Photos and a Stitch-Along!

Hello friends!

How is summer treating you so far? We've been slowly getting used to the new routines and schedules of summertime, and also fighting off the blues since the end of our combined vacation.

Angel and her family visited Jenny and her family in Washington at the beginning of June and it was such fun! We thought we'd reminisce and share a few photos with you... (And keep reading for some stitch-y fun...)

The highlight of the visit was the 3 days we spent at a house on Hood Canal on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. We lucked out with awesome weather and had such a great time!!

And here we are minutes from saying goodbye...

It was a wonderful time, we'll cherish the memories!

But let's bring this back to stitches, shall we? We had brought several projects to work on during the vacation, and both ended up embroidering. Want to see what we stitched up?

Angel worked on the Spring Sampler from Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection by Aimee Ray. Here is her finished project:

And Jenny cut out a birdie from fuchsia felt, appliqued it onto linen and practiced her stitches. Here's her finished project:

Since Jenny loves Angel's sampler so much, she's decided to try it out. She's chosen to embroider the motifs with a monochromatic aqua palette onto natural linen.

Spring Sampler stitch-along

Do you want to stitch along with us? The sampler pattern is available as a free download from the Lark Crafts website. If you'd like to practice your stitches with us, get some floss and a hoop and start stitching!

This sampler is so cute and busy, there are tons of options for color choices and theme. We'll keep this informal and share finished projects in our Flickr pool. Let us know if you'd like to join the stitch-along in the comments! Yay!!

  1. looks like a beautiful trip - both of your stitch projects are beautiful!!!

  2. I haven't embroidered in years but would love to make this sampler. Would be great if Jenny helped by telling what stitches she is using as she sews each item.

  3. Oh how fun! I love Port Townsend - I'm really jealous! And your stitching is just beautiful!

  4. Fabulous sampler - well done :)

  5. Thank you all for the comments!

Annmarie, I'll think up a way to share my progress and stitches so you can follow along. Yay!

  6. I would love to know which stitches you use as per Annmarie's comments. The sampler looks absolutely wonderful. Best wishes :)
