Show and Tell: Magpie Patterns (and a GIVEAWAY!)

By-Angel

Happy Thursday everyone! It is a gray day here in Nashville, only 43 degrees. Last weekend it was 80 degrees! I heard that New York got a foot of snow, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much (especially since it will be 100 degrees outside soon enough).

Today I wanted to share what's caught my eye in the "new" section at Magpie Patterns! Amy does such a wonderful job curating her shop.

First up, I am in LOVE with this Grown Up Hoodie. The cables (are those considered cables?) up the back are just too cool. And, if I started knitting now, I might actually finish this in time for Fall!

This Keyka Lou messenger bag is next on my list. If you follow the link, you can see how wonderful the design of the bag is, down to the pocket for a small notebook (I never leave home without a Moleskine) and two pen slots. I'm thinking I could get away with this for a quick trip diaper bag!

Amy also offers a great selection of craft books, I've seen Little Things to Sew from Oliver and S  reviewed on quite a few blogs the last couple of weeks, and I would love to see what's inside! I've heard that Oliver and S does an outstanding job with their patterns, and the drawings are just adorable.

And finally, my favorite thing out of all of them (so much so that I had to rush and buy it as soon as she listed it!): The Book Smart embroidery set from September House. As we mentioned last week during the Alphabet Glue giveaway, I am crazy about books! I'm thinking that if I could get one or two of these finished before the end of the year they'd make really great gifts for the librarian at Ian's school.

I am also envisioning that I Heart Books pattern on a tote bag for Ian to carry to the library this summer, since we go at least once a week when he's out of school. Isn't it darling?

I had every intention of starting one of these patterns so I could show you my progress, but I realized too late that all my embroidery hoops and materials are in the art classroom from my "Guest Artist" gig at the beginning of the month. I promise to do a post about it when I get started, this will be my first embroidery experience so I am looking forward to it.

Do you love these Book Smart embroidery patterns as much as I do? Well, one Stumbles & Stitches reader is in luck, because Amy has offered to give away one set of Book Smart patterns!

To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post, letting us know what catches your eye over at Magpie Patterns. Please leave your email address in the comment form or make sure you link to a profile with contact info!

We'll close the comments on Sunday 4/3 (Midnight PST), and announce the winner on Monday. Good luck!

Jenny-mini-button Once again, I am envious of our future giveaway winner! These Book Smart patterns are absolutely adorable, and so hip and modern too. Love them! Magpie Patterns rocks once more.

Comments closed! Congratulations to Jenny of Cut.Sew.Iron.Repeat (who said: "oh goodness, that embroidery of the girl carrying the books could be my own dearest daughter!! what great selection of items!"), she won the Magpie Patterns giveaway and is the lucky recipient of the adorable Book Smart pattern set by SeptemberHouse!

  1. I love the Annie Bow-tie Dress pattern. Too bad my daughter is too big for the pattern sizes...

  2. I changed my mind a zillion times what a fun shop! Thank you for introducing me to it.

If I could pick only one thing it would probably be the Huck Finn Cap. My husband wears hats like that (that is the only style hat he wears)on a regular basis and our boys wear his a lot so it would be wonderful to make them their own. I may just have to go ahead and order that soon... lol : )
